 The operating system of your iDevice is always protected against viruses. The closed environment with its hidden file system makes it much harder for hackers to place a virus than a Windows PC or Android smartphone.


In addition, you only need to load your apps from the App Store. Apple scrupulously checks every software. New programs are released for use only when everything is OK.
Unlike Windows and Android, iOS does not require you to be afraid of viruses and other malware that can damage or disable your system.

However, your data is not always necessarily in a safe place on iOS. Most recently, in 2019, a  major security vulnerability was  discovered in iOS that gave hackers access to a host of sensitive data, including contact data and WhatsApp chats.

Modifying your operating system will not only unlock locked features. You can also install software that does not come from the app store. It is unclear whether these files are safe. Pests thus have easy game.

In the past, for example, the Trojan "TinyV" has made it to numerous iOS devices. Many users use the jailbreak to download game apps for free. A known paid game was illegally offered in the jailbreak store "Cydia" and also provided with a Trojan horse.
Also, the NSA has in the past with the tool "Pegasus" procured access to several iPhones. This is also only possible thanks to a jailbreak. However, the method was extremely expensive and is no longer applicable today.

If you search for antivirus apps in the App Store, you will hardly find it. Apple's iOS operating system is so closed that only verified content has access. According to the current state, the danger of a virus is not realistic.

Antivirus protection is therefore not required. To convey this picture, Apple also offers no more anti-virus apps. Applications such as Avira Antivirus and Virus Barrier were removed from the store after a short time. Really useful they were not on iOS anyway.

Things are different after installing a jailbreak. The jailbreak is just about to open this closed nature of iOS. This makes the system individually configurable, but also much less secure.

You should monitor the "Available WorkItems" counter. Sustained values smaller than ten mean that the File server is running out of work items. When it does, performance really starts to plummet.
